Turks & Caicos Islands
It was recently our fourth time to head back to the Turks and Caicos islands. It is by far my favorite caribbean island I have traveled. It truly has the most turquoise waters you could ever dream. Every time I see it, it’s like I am wowed like it’s my first time. We love this place so much, we vowed to return every year! Not only was this top Caribbean destination the backdrop of my gorgeous engagement in 2015 but it is also the home to Grace Bay, which has been named one of the top Caribbean beaches by Travel + Leisure. Traveling here excites me no matter how many times I have been. This destination is a must no matter the season.
Wanderlust Hotels
The Palms - Out most recent stay was at the popular Palms resort, located on the famed Grace Bay. It’s a mile from town which is great for grabbing bikes and touring the town in the afternoon. Walking in felt like a breath of fresh air with the open courtyard lobby. This resort is bit larger and on the busier end of Grace Bay. The pool overlooks the beach or get front row on beach beds.
Gansevoort - This is our go to resort, also located on Grace Bay. I am a sucker for modern clean design and this resort offers just that. I’m a bit biased to the Gansevoort as my husband proposed to me here on the beach at our private candlelight dinner. This resort is also located within walkable distance to the island fish fry. The service is impeccable, I highly recommend this resort.
Aman - The renowned Aman properties have a gorgeous resort here located on the Northwest side of the island. I haven’t have the chance to stay but I’ve heard they carry the same service and standards as the other Aman properties. I plan to stay here our next visit and will update this on the hotels page.
Your own island - Now, if you have a cool 40 million laying around you can buy your own island in Turks. The island pictured in my cover photo on this blog is currently for sale. A girl can dream…
Wanderlust Experiences
Snorkel Day trip - There are many companies that offer group half or full day snorkel trips that include Snorkeling, Half moon bay tour, and seeing the conch caught fresh. This is a great affordable way to see the island.
Yacht Charter - If you are looking for something more luxurious and private, chartering a yacht for a full or half day is the way to go. You can customize a private tour to anywhere you want to go around the islands. Check our the Erry but beautiful Ghost ship. There a not a ton of yachts to choose from here, I would recommend Panoply or Southern Cross.
Fish Fry - The island fish fry happens every Thursday night. Local Vendors, restaurants and live music line the park for a lively local scene. This is as happening as the island gets and its definitely worth the visit for the local flare of the Junkanoo dancers, and fresh conch!
Ride bikes to town - Most resorts on the island offer community bikes for guests to check out and take to explore the island.
Sunset Cruise - Many of the same companies that offer the snorkel tours offer the sunset cruise as well. Enjoy Rum punch, wine and apps prior to heading to dinner and see the island in different shades.
Paddle Boarding - The ocean is so calm here it makes it the perfect setting for paddle boarding. You can see straight through to the ocean floor.
Middle & South Caicos - If you are in Turks for more than four days, I would recommend taking the ferry to one of the other islands. These islands are much quite and less inhabited so you will find beautiful beaches all to yourselves. Check out the pink beach if you can find it!
Casino - Try your luck at one of the 2 casinos located on the island.
Wanderlust Cuisine
Coco Bistro - The most “famous’ restaurant on the island. Dine underneath a canopy of palm trees and enjoy some island cuisine. Be sure to make reservations a few weeks in advance.
Infiniti Restaurant - Located in Grace Bay resort on the beach. Dine here at sunset for a mesmerizing backdrop to your dinner.
Element - This local cuisine restaurant located within a shopping center may not seem fancy but you will get some great local dishes here. Say hello to Omar, one of the owners, such a great guy!
Conch Shack -Located west of Grace Bay, it’ll take about 45 minutes to arrive but this is a perfect lunch spot. Fresh conch pulled form the ocean with great ocean views.
Parallel 23 - Located in the Palms resort overlooking the resort courtyard. They offer a great variety of wines and fresh seafood.
Melt-Located downtown, this is an eclectic Coffee Cafe with a cute shop connected.
Stelle- Located inside the Gansevoort, dine here on a Friday to enjoy a live DJ and fresh sushi.
